FULL SUMMER AHEAD!
Well, we are off on a huge summer schedule with teams over the next 90 days going to Costa Rica, Cuba, Haiti, and Jamaica! These folks will be doing evangelism, discipleship, leadership training, character development, construction, childrens ministry, student ministry, preaching, teaching, feeding stations, and food baskets. We are absolutely blessed with the people God is sending our way, their heart for serving others, and the blessing they are to our people in each of these awesome countries. Pray for them as they boldly step into new places, new experiences, and new challenges!
CLINIC TO BE ADDED IN STEERTOWN, JAMAICA
In January of this year we had a medical team from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH, that were a huge blessing to the people in Steertown. One of the members of that team couldn't get what she saw out of her heart and began to dream about what could make a great difference in the lives of the chronically ill and at-risk people in this community. She realized, as a nurse, that many of those we saw, if their health problems were monitored, could live long and fruitful lives. That dream began a discussion that has led to the reality of a clinic in the Grace Community Centre that would monitor those suffering from diabetes, hypertension, asthma, expectant mothers, and newborn babies. We are in the final stages now of acquiring the funding for a full-time staff nurse, an on-call physician, medications, and supplies to start the Grace Clinic in the coming months! Praise God for people that aren't satisfied when simply dreaming and put ideas into action...pray as we finalize these plans and start seeing patients on a regular basis.
RECOVERY IN HAITI
The needs in Haiti continue to be astronomical and, sadly, the response of the world to the situation there is decreasing at a disappointingly rapid rate. Our ministry partners are all in the recovery process that will house the homeless, feed the hungry, and give hope to the hopeless. In Jacmel we are moving forward with a program to reach outlying areas that still have received little or no help by locating orphaned children in Haitian Christian homes. A new recovery center is being started in the northern part of Port au Prince, the capitol, on 4 acres of land donated to our partners by the local government. A ministry center providing a food redistribution center, a clinic, an orphanage, and homes for widows with children is being built in Cap Haitien by our partners there. We are working with all our partners to see how we can use local labor, produce, and materials in order to help the people of Haiti recover their livelihood and jobs as well as a place to live. YOU can be a part of this work - there are openings on teams scheduled for the fall so contact us now!
